Charlottesville Waldorf Community,
We've weathered quite a bit the last few weeks. As we work toward securing a better future for CWS, the campaign continues; as the year comes to a close and a new one awaits, we look forward to more space, more programs and more support for our beloved faculty (who are notorious for 100% giving!)
Tidbits, including new incentive:
- The winner of our raffle for the dinner-for-two gift certificate to The Local Restaurant in Belmont is (drum-roll please)....Aimee Hunt, mother of Charlie in Grade 5 and Jane in Grade 1! Aimee was excited to hear she had won...and now invites someone to come forward as her date! (Take that, Match.com!) You can find her information in the directory!
- Number notes: Environmental Engineer Dave Maciolek estimates that 1,400,000 cubic feet of snow fell over the 13 acres of CWS property during the break so far. Melted, this would be 12,500 gallons of water and weigh about 120,000 pounds or 60 tons. If it all melted at the same time, it would raise Meadow Creek, which runs along the back part of our property, by 100%. This just happens to be the same number we are hoping for in participation by our parents, faculty, staff and board members! We are asking you to give to the CWF and CWS campaigns, and we are encouraging you to give as soon as you can.
- Any donations postmarked December 30-Jan 6 will be pulled for another drawing. The winner will receive a getaway at Wintergreen Resort (a cozy 3-bedroom house located within walking distance to the slopes, 3 days-2 nights, based on availability).
- Construction Notes: We are poised to begin construction as soon as "Mother Nature" helps us with a little cooperation. Everything else is a go!
